- Abstract
The study was conducted in the purpose of improving students’ self-confidence in speaking English through online collaboration classes. The number of the subject was 20 students of class XI of State Senior High School I Pematang Karau, East Barito, Central Kalimantan. All the subject were the students who had been taught English speaking based on the curriculum in academic year 2023/2024. This study also carried out activities with 20 students of State Senior High School 3 Palangka Raya class XI. The study used classroom action research for implementing the activities. The action was done in three cycles and the data gained was collected from the results of observations and questionnaires. The quantitative approach was also used to process the data. The results showed that participation in online collaboration classes significantly increased students’ confidence in communicating using English. The observation results showed the good category level with percentage of achievement 78.12% was in last cycle, as same as the questionnaires result that showed good category level with score 2.55 in the last cycle which based on the Likert scale. Students reported that this activity could improve their speaking ability, reducing speaking anxiety, and increased their motivation to learn English.
