Abstract

Children’s potential can be discovered by their interests and talents, which are often called multiple intelligences. The piano is an instrument that is predominantly liked by the public. Piano learning is divided into two types, namely pop piano and classical piano by reading block notation. Classical piano can be learned from various kinds of songs in ancient times where they were taught correct block notation, fingering and touching so that classical piano was more complex than learning pop piano. In the city of Palangka Raya there are several music courses, one of which is the Simfony Music School. In this tutoring place, children learn privately, one teacher per child. This place is an attraction for research with the aim of getting information about teaching and learning activities for Classical Piano with good learning strategies, the use of methods, techniques and learning media used by teachers in teaching classical piano to children aged 5-8 years. Data collection techniques through observation, interviews and document study at the music course, namely Simfony Music School. The strategies applied by piano teachers in classical piano learning are preparation strategies, management in piano learning, approaches to piano learning and evaluation of piano learning.
