- Abstract
Ecological damage is a crisis faced by the world today. The urge to care for and maintain ecology is a demand amidst the environmental crisis experienced throughout the world. The church is also called to be involved in realizing concern for ecological damage. As efforts to realize the Kingdom of God are not only eschatological, but now and here, in the midst of a world experiencing an ecological crisis. The church’s bias towards ecological damage can be seen from the Christology held by the church. The purpose of this study is to formulate a GPIB Christology that sides with the environment as reflected in the understanding of GPIB’s faith. The type of research used is qualitative-descriptive. Data collection was carried out through literature studies by examining the understanding of GPIB’s faith. The conclusion of the research results, GPIB Christology believes that Jesus Christ is the Savior of all creation. GPIB Christology places nature on an equal footing with other creations. Salvation as one of the main points of faith is no longer understood as belonging to humans, but salvation is also intended for the entire universe. Thus, GPIB Christology is a contextual Christology model that departs from the congregation’s struggle for faith in the form of ecological damage.
