Abstract

Inter-religious conflicts persist in Indonesia, often fueled by religious radicalism. The government’s proposed solution, religious moderation, has faced resistance, particularly among Christians. To better understand religious moderation, this article aims to reinterpret the Capernaum Centurion’s story based on Luke 7:1–10. Using a qualitative research approach and the Historical-Critical Method, this study examines the biblical text to extract theological messages. The goal is to provide a new perspective on religious moderation for Christians and to promote inter-religious harmony. The findings suggest that religious moderation is not about compromising faith but about fostering tolerance and understanding. The church can play a crucial role in promoting this concept by creating spaces for interfaith dialogue and education. By embracing religious moderation, Indonesia can move towards a more peaceful and harmonious society.
