- Abstract
This review paper investigates the lasting customs of the 5Rs—Refuse, Reduce, Reuse, Repurpose, and Recycle—in Indian homes, culture, and heritage. These ideas have been a part of Indians’ everyday lives for a long time showing a culture with strong ties to living. The study examines how people use these practices in running their homes, making crafts, doing religious ceremonies, and taking part in community events. All these activities help create a way of life that makes less waste and uses resources better. By looking at examples from the past and present, this paper shows how these practices have changed and adjusted to face today's problems giving useful lessons for current worldwide efforts to sustainable living. Using different fields of study, the paper aims to present examples on how Indian cultural and household practices related to the 5Rs can teach and motivate people around the world to live in a more sustainable way.
