- Abstract
As it is known, the development of modern intelligent power systems is based on the implementation of Smart Grid technologies at all stages of electricity generation, transmission, distribution, and consumption. In this context, distribution electric networks have particular importance. In the presented study, the main principles of the Smart Grid concept, modern intelligent technical means, and the key features of their application have been examined, and corresponding infrastructure schemes have been provided. Based on simulation modeling, the results of computational experiments for both steady-state and dynamic operating modes of conventional and Smart Grid-based distribution networks have been presented and analyzed. The obtained results confirm the main advantages of Smart Grid-based networks.
