Abstract

The field of tourism is considered very important in the development of Indonesia. Indonesian tourism has various characteristics and diversity in each region that is different. One of the places that have become economically developed in the field of tourism is the Baluran National Park area in Situbondo, East Java. The surrounding community is very dependent on the existence of National parks, for example, in meeting daily needs. The local community is currently involved in the management and ecotourism development of Baluran National Park in Wonorejo Village. However, before the local community of Baluran National Park ecotourism area switched to ecotourism activities, most of the local people used to be poachers. Researchers aim to determine the formation of community participation of former poachers in the development and management of ecotourism areas in Baluran National Park and to determine the forms of community participation of former poachers in the development and management of ecotourism areas in Baluran National Park. This research used qualitative methods to explore data more about the research subject who is the Wonorejo Village community as a former hunter who is now involved in the management of Baluran National Park. Using the ecotourism concept, the data shows that it can be a concept model for developing conservation management.
