- Abstract
This report provides a comprehensive analysis of the jamudigital.com platform, examining its pivotal role in the preservation and modernization of jamu, the traditional Indonesian herbal medicine. Through a qualitative descriptive study utilizing a virtual ethnography approach, the report synthesizes evidence to demonstrate how the platform acts as a critical intermediary in a long-standing cultural evolution. The analysis reveals that jamudigital.com is not merely a digital repository but a strategic actor in a multi-fold mission: to legitimize jamu through scientific validation, to integrate it into Indonesia’s formal healthcare and national economic systems, and to preserve its cultural heritage by re-packaging it for a digitally native audience. The platform’s success lies in its ability to translate a localized, ritualistic tradition into a globally accessible, scientifically credible, and economically viable virtual publication, thereby fundamentally altering the perception and practice of jamu in modern society.
