- Abstract
The Wattpad platform is the media for the production and distribution of the novel Laut Tengah (2022) by Berliana Kimberly. Laut Tengah presents the story of a woman who becomes the second wife of a lecturer in Korea in order to study for a master’s degree there. This novel represents many Islamic ideologies in the conflict of the story, the characters, the setting, and the narrative. The representations of Islamic ideology presented are the morals of Muslim women, commitment to worship and holding Islamic values, education and women’s equality, and Islamic brotherhood. The representation of Islamic ideology can be presented by the author because Berliana Kimberly is a Muslim woman who graduated from UGM’s master of law who concentrated on Islamic law, has traveled to several countries to attend international conferences including Korea, and she is a member of Forum Lingkar Pena (FLP), the largest writing organization in Indonesia that carries Islamic literature in its works.
