Abstract

Indonesia, with its ethnic and religious diversity, faces challenges in maintaining social harmony, requiring a moderate approach to religion to create a peaceful and harmonious life. One of the key elements in this process is local culture, which plays a role in mitigating potential conflicts and strengthening values of tolerance. Among these local cultures, Javanese culture, with its local wisdom, serves as one of the main pillars supporting religious moderation in Indonesia. Javanese culture is rich in traditions that reflect values of togetherness and tolerance. For example, the slametan, a thanksgiving ritual that involves all community members, symbolizes unity and collaboration. In this context, slametan functions not only as a religious event but also as a means of strengthening relationships among residents of various religious backgrounds. Moreover, Javanese culture demonstrates acceptance of religious differences that have existed for a long time. The Javanese people do not tend to oppose one religion against another but instead integrate various teachings into their daily lives, thus creating an atmosphere of mutual respect and understanding among religious communities.
