Abstract

This study explores the implementation of digital pedagogies in English language learning beyond the classroom (LLBC) among non-English major university students. Data were collected through semi-structured interviews with ten participants selected purposively based on their active engagement with digital English learning platforms. Thematic analysis was employed to identify key patterns and themes related to students’ learning experiences. The findings reveal that platforms such as YouTube, TikTok, and mobile learning applications (e.g., Duolingo and Grammarly) are independently utilized to enhance speaking skills. Students adopted strategies such as repeated video watching, pronunciation practice, and participation in interactive features like live sessions and duets. Drawing on the principles of autonomous and constructivist learning theories, the study indicates that digital pedagogies foster learner autonomy, motivation, and authentic language exposure. However, challenges including distractions, inconsistent engagement, and limited feedback remain significant barriers. The results underscore the importance of institutional support and pedagogical guidance to maximize the benefits of digital learning in higher education contexts.
