Abstract

This research aims to develop vocational high schools based on the superior potential of the region and the needs of the Pohuwato Regency community. The research method used is a combination of Sequential Explanatory model with Location Quotient (LQ) data analysis and qualitative data analysis. The results of the study are the leading regional sector of Pohuwato Regency, which has 3 basic sectors, namely, Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries, Water Procurement, Waste Management and Recycling, and Processing Industry, with an LQ value of 1.557. There are 17 expertise competencies of SMKs in Pohuwato Regency from 6 schools visited. There are 3 (three) expertise competencies that do not match the superior potential, namely Building Modeling and Information Design, Network Computer Engineering, and Software Engineering. Expertise competencies that can be developed are: Machining Engineering, Automotive Light Vehicle Engineering, Agribusiness of Food Crops and Horticulture, Agribusiness of Plantation Crops, Agribusiness of Agricultural Product Processing, Agricultural Machine Tools, Fishing Vessel Nautics, Brackish Water and Marine Fisheries Agribusiness, Fishery Product Processing Agribusiness, Online Business and Marketing, Accounting and Institutional Finance, Hospitality, Fashion Management, Motorcycle Engineering and Business.
