Abstract

Differentiated and equitable education is an important issue, especially in often marginalized rural areas. This research explores the practices and impacts of the Tanoker Community in Ledokombo, Jember, East Java in promoting differentiated education through a cultural approach. This community integrates traditional games into the learning process as a means to facilitate learning and social change in rural areas. This qualitative research, designed as a case study, uses participant observation, in-depth interviews, focus group discussions, and document analysis to collect data. The findings show that the integration of traditional games helps create a differentiated, active, and enjoyable learning environment for children. This approach also revives local cultural heritage, enhances participation and equitable inclusion, and encourages community empowerment and social change. This research highlights the potential of traditional games as a contextual and effective learning medium in creating differentiated, relevant, and equitable education for rural communities. The findings emphasize the importance of integrating local cultural elements into the curriculum and learning methods to support sustainable and transformative educational development.
