Abstract

Recently, youth suicide has become an increasing common issue; even, there has been an increasing trend among adolescents to attempt suicide. This condition occurs in relation to the risk factors in adolescents’ life that here needs to be supported by protective factors to build resilience. This research aims to obtain an overview of the factors why adolescents decide to commit suicide in terms of their resilience. It used a systematic literature review of research journal articles studied in post-Covid-19 pandemic. Of 132 journals in the period of 2022 to 2023 through the main searching at science direct website, 25 articles were reviewed in this research. The inclusion criteria for article searches were empirical studies on suicide, resilience, risk factors, protective factors, and adolescents. The research results showed that victimization, ego depletion, and emotional abuse cause adolescent stress, thereby reducing adolescents’ resilience and leading to suicidal ideation. The suicidal ideation that arises and continues to be contemplated in turn can create a suicide plan. Adolescents here need protective factors such as social support, self-confidence, and emotional well-being to build self-resilience, thereby preventing suicide attempts.
