- Abstract
As one of China’s most influential folk tales, the Legend of White Snake has inspired numerous domestic and international literary works over the centuries, highlighting its significant impact and wide dissemination. These adaptations have localized the story based on their own historical and social contexts, imbuing each version with distinctive national characteristics. This paper will discuss adaptations of The Legend of White Snake in China, Japan, Korea, and Western countries, exploring the underlying ideological content.
