- Abstract
The increasing need for well-trained school counselors underscores the importance of practicum models that bridge the gap between theory and real-world application. This study aimed to develop a Solution-Focused Brief Counseling (SFBC) practicum model that combines the case method with experiential learning to enhance counseling skills in undergraduate students. Employing a research and development (R&D) design based on Borg and Gall (1983), the study followed systematic steps: initial identification of needs, development of a prototype, and iterative process of expert validation and revision. Participants included SFBC experts, educational media specialists, and prospective users who evaluated the model for content accuracy, usability, and practicality. Procedures involved the detailed design of eight SFBC training sessions, covering General Practicum Procedures and specific SFBC techniques, with activities focused on real-world case studies and experiential learning cycles. Three key instruments were utilized: The Content Evaluation Questionnaire, The Design Evaluation Questionnaire, and The Model Feasibility Questionnaire, capturing both quantitative ratings and qualitative feedback. Data analysis used the inter-rater agreement model, yielding high expert agreement with scores ranging from 87.5% to 100% in various categories. Content accuracy, usability, and instructional clarity were rated particularly high, indicating that the model effectively meets educational standards for SFBC practicum courses. Overall, findings show that this practicum guide provides a structured, interactive approach for developing students’ counseling competencies, thus holding promise as a valuable educational tool for counselor training. Future applications of this model could further contribute to enhancing counseling education quality and producing skilled practitioners ready to meet professional demands.
