Abstract

As a major agricultural city in Anhui Province, Bozhou relies heavily on rivers, ponds, and other aquatic resources to support ecological governance and food security. In recent years, its aquatic ecosystems have been profoundly affected by intensive agricultural activities and rapid urbanization. Data analysis reveals that the total area of water bodies in Bozhou has exhibited significant spatiotemporal variations, with notable regional differences: water bodies were mainly preserved in areas with river channel regulation and artificial wetland construction, while substantial shrinkage occurred in districts and counties with intensive urban expansion and agricultural production. Correlation analysis confirms that annual rainfall, agricultural water demand, and urbanization rate are the key factors driving changes in water bodies. This study provides empirical support for regional water ecological protection, resource allocation optimization, and coordinated development of agriculture, urbanization, and ecology—offering valuable insights for sustainable governance in agricultural areas of the North China Plain.
