Analysis of Printmaking and Photography Research Hotspots and Trends Based on Citespace—Taking WOS and CNKI as Examples

- Abstract
Since the invention of photography in 1839, the development of traditional printmaking has been greatly impacted. With the integration and development of printmaking and photography in artistic creation. Currently, printmaking and photography, as two forms of artistic expression, have a significant impact on image reproduction and knowledge transmission. This study aims to explore the research trends of printmaking and photography exploring future paths. This study employs quantitative analysis methods, using CiteSpace 6.4R1 document visualization analysis software to conduct visualization analysis of printmaking and photography literature data from WOS and CNKI. Analysis revealed the following: 1) Keyword clustering: International research on printmaking and photography focuses on three dimensions: Arts, Creative Thoughts, and Visual Art. 2) Time trends: International research on printmaking and photography primarily changes in quantity, beginning in 1983, with the largest increase in publications between 2005 and 2017, peaking in 2017. Chinese research on printmaking and photography fluctuates significantly, with concentrated research in 2009 and 2018. 3) Gel print analysis: Compared to other printmaking techniques, gel printmaking exhibits relatively less pluralism and more painterly qualities, offering printmakers new possibilities for creative expression.
