Abstract

This research aims to conduct digital mapping and dissemination of acquisition data related to ancient graves in Madura. Seeing that the ancient graves in Madura are not only a cultural heritage but also part of the development of building art (architecture) which often inserted aesthetic elements in it. Generally, the combination of previous culture (Hindu-Buddhist), local traditions, and religion then gave to various ornamental styles with symbolic meanings. Therefore, this research uses a combination of spatial analysis by utilizing Geographic Information System (GIS) technology with archaeological research methods as an effort to facilitate access to information about ancient graves in Madura more easily and interactively. The results of this study indicate that digital mapping of ancient graves in Madura can be an effective for cultural heritage preservation, education, and tourism promotion. This research is expected to contribute to the development of cultural heritage preservation methods through digitization and can be a reference for further research on digital mapping of cultural heritage, especially related to ancient graves in Madura.
