Abstract

This article discusses the history of the three figures of Janget Kinatelon and the Chinese-Javanese alliance during the Yellow War (Geel Oorlog) in Lasem in the 18th century. The objectives of this study are: 1). To analyze and examine the role of Janget Kinatelon in the Yellow War-Lasem incident in the 18th century; 2). The influence of these three figures in the process of harmonizing ethnic and multicultural cultures in the Lasem region. This article uses historical research methods through the perspective of historical figures as the focus of its study. This article uses primary sources from local documents, namely Carita Sejarah Lasem (CSL), and utilizes secondary oral sources from the collective memory of the local community. The results of this article include: a). The Chinese-Javanese Lasem alliance began when ethnic Chinese fled from Batavia to Lasem in 1740; b). This alliance was led by figures from two different ethnic groups who were nicknamed Janget Kinatelon; c). These three figures led the Lasem Chinese-Javanese alliance forces to fight against the VOC until 1750; d). The people of Lasem built the Gie Yong Bio Temple and the Statue of Raden Panji Margana as the highest form of respect for his services; e). These two physical cultures have become symbols of harmony and multiculturalism between ethnicities, cultures and religions for the people of Lasem, which are still preserved to this day.
