- Abstract
This study analysis the effect of cultural norms on mental health perceptions, stigma, coping mechanisms and help-seeking behaviours. Data was collected from 230 individuals across diverse cultural backgrounds through an anonymous online survey. The findings of this study reveal that on one hand some cultures are open to discussing mental health while on the other hand some think of it as a private matter and associate it with weakness. Approaching stigma and increasing mental health awareness can encourage help-seeking behaviour and emotional openness. Ultimately, the research highlights the importance of creating a wide-ranging mental health system that respects cultural diversity while promoting psychological well-being.
