- Abstract
Strategic management is rooted in analytical reasoning and actionable resource deployment. Drawing insights from Arthashastra, the ancient Indian treatise by Kautilya, this chapter explores time-tested strategic principles through an empirical lens. Using a structural equation modeling approach, the study evaluates five classical dimensions—Satya-Yukti (Intellectual Honesty), Sadgunyas (Learning from Others), Pratyaksha (Perception and Knowledge), Shakti (Power), and Swadhyaya (Self-Development)—and their impact on Upaya (Strategic Management). Findings reveal strong correlations between contemporary strategic success and these classical principles, affirming the relevance of Kautilya’s wisdom in modern corporate governance.
