- Abstract
Sunan Pandanaran, or Sunan Bayat, was one of the “Wali Sanga” who spread Islam on the island of Java. Sunan Pandanaran lived until he died and was buried in the Bayat area, so he was known as Sunan Bayat. While living in the Bayat area, Sunan Pandanaran left at least 7 (seven) wells behind, which are still sacred to the community. One of the 7 (seven) wells above is the Bandung well which is said to be the result of a prick of Sunan Kalijaga’s stick which can emit abundant water. In the Sunan Bayat Tomb complex, a barrel known as Gentong Si Naga was found. People, especially pilgrims, believe that the water from Gentong Si Naga has blessings and is sacred.
