- Abstract
The Mount Slamet area is administratively owned by five districts, namely Banyumas, Purbalingga, Pemalang, Tegal, and Brebes. This area has 70 megalithic sites in the form of stepped pundens, menhirs, lumpangs, phallus, statues, dolmens, dakon stones, and altars. The existence of these megalithic buildings is proof that at that time the megalithic culture had developed widely and was embraced by the megalithic people who lived on Mount Slamet. The megalithic community on Mount Slamet chose the foothills as a place to settle because the environment is fertile and provides abundant water sources. Therefore, the livelihood chosen is farming. In the month of Suran or during the harvest season they perform a ceremony as a thank you to the universe called the Grebeg Sura ceremony. How the procession of the Grebeg Suran ceremony will be expressed in this article. The method used in this paper is a comparison between the megalithic conception and the observation results of the Grebeg Suran ceremonial procession.
