- Abstract
This paper examines how photography constructs and deconstructs the visual representation of love and marriage. It explores historical and cultural shifts in wedding photography, from rigid Victorian portraits to modern documentary styles, reflecting broader societal transformations. Through an analysis of visual techniques, gender dynamics, and contemporary artistic interpretations, the study highlights how photography shapes and challenges traditional notions of intimacy. By examining the works of photographers such as Geloy Concepcion, Haruhiko Kawaguchi, and Marina Abramović and Ulay, the paper demonstrates how visual narratives of love extend beyond conventional portrayals to include themes of vulnerability, connection, and evolving identities. The discussion also considers the role of commercialization, LGBTQ + representation, and feminist perspectives in reshaping the photographic language of romance and commitment.
