Abstract

This article presents a pioneering analysis on ChatGPT and human translators in the literary translation of Lu Xun’s The True Story of Ah-Q. Focusing on fidelity and conscious bias, it uncovers critical disparities in how these translation agencies navigate the intricacies of culturally loaded texts. Through collaborative experiments, it highlights ChatGPT’s computational limitations in capturing cultural implications while showcasing the unique creativity of human translators. The article helps to fill in the gap of current translation studies concerning Lu Xun’s works, giving a detailed description of both the strengths and weaknesses of AI translation in literary field.
