- Abstract
The aim of this research is to evaluate the role (place and importance) of learning analytics in literature to develop and improve the decision-making process in higher education. In this context, four questions were sought to be answered. These are: (1) For what reasons is LA used in higher education institutions? (2) What types of data does LA use in higher education? (3) What methods does LA use in higher education? (4) How does LA affect decision-making in higher education?1. For what reasons is LA used in higher education institutions? Research Method: PRISMA was followed up to create the main body of advanced research for the systematic review. Google Scholar and LSU Library databases were used for literature review. The selected keywords were “big data”, “data mining”, “learning analytics”, “analytics”, “Higher Education” and Decision making. 67 articles and notifications that were directly determined to have functions for the purpose of the research were analyzed. Some of the research results are as follows: learning analytics, supporting the achievement of goals in learning simulation, measuring, collecting, analyzing student data and evaluating students’ performances and enhancing learning. Internship, internship, demographic data, survey data, interview data and academic background data among university students are used.
