Abstract

In this paper we focus on the issue of depistication and accurate diagnosis of specific learning disabilities in pupils with severe visual impairment in the current special education practice in the Czech Republic. This issue is very often dealt with in our country at the level of pronouncing a presumptive diagnosis that accompanies visual impairment, but further diagnosis does not follow. The aim of our paper is to present the results of ongoing research in this area (this research is co-financed by IGA_PdF_2024_019 - The phenomenon of specific learning disabilities in pupils with visual impairment). The paper includes a presentation of the results of the research on the topic in the context of global research, which will be followed by the current situation at the level of Czech special education. Paper prepared based on literature review and qualitative re- search methodologies. The data for the research itself was collected by means of questionnaires and interviews with experts in the field.
