Abstract

With the continuous progress of the economy and society and the increasingly severe phenomenon of population aging, the care of the middle-aged and elderly employees in private colleges and universities has attracted more and more attention. Based on Maslow‘s hierarchy of needs theory, this study discusses how private universities should implement effective care measures for the specific needs of middle-aged and elderly employees. Through questionnaire survey and in-depth interview, empirical research was conducted on the physiological, safety, social, respect and self-realization needs of the staff aged 40 and above in private universities. The results show that the middle-aged and elderly staff have safety needs (such as insufficient retirement security, mean score of 2.7 / 5) and self-fulfillment needs (limited career development, mean score of 2.8 / 5). Based on the domestic and foreign research results in the past five years, the integrated intervention strategy of “stepped welfare security system”, “Career Transformation Support System”, “Career Transformation Support Plan” and “Yin ling Think Tank Platform” is proposed. These measures are conducive to creating a more positive and supportive working atmosphere for the middle-aged and elderly employees in private colleges and universities, so as to improve their job satisfaction and loyalty, and further promote the long-term development and stable progress of colleges and universities.
