Abstract

Shamandar, or beetroot (Beta vulgaris L.), is a member of the Amaranthaceae family. It has been used as a kidney protector, emmenagogue, carminative, hemostatic, and cardiovascular protector. Extracts from Beta vulgaris L. roots have been shown to have hepatoprotective, antihypertensive, hypoglycemic, and anti-inflammatory qualities in recent studies. This study is an experimental laboratory research with a true experimental design with only posttest control group design to determine and compare several treatment groups. Wistar rats (Rattus Norvegicus) were induced with Beet Fruit (Beta Vulgaris) extract on D-Galactose and the measurement variable was effect of hepatoprotector, anti-hyperglycemia and body weight effectiveness Body weight after treatment between groups showed differences between groups. Negative control group that not given treatment had a body weight that tended to be greater than the other groups. Dose of 250 mg/kgBW Beet shows a 179,2 ± 10,47 grams before treatment and 268,6 ± 18,1 grams after treatment and Dose of 500 mg/kgBW Beet shows a 174,2 ± 19,69 grams before treatment and 260,6 ± 11,03 grams after treatment. Blood sugar, ALT AST levels and liver histopathology had significant differences (p < 0.001). Beet fruit extract at a dose of 500mg/kgBW has an effect as a hepatoprotector, weight loss and blood sugar lowering.
