- Abstract
Type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) is a metabolic disorder characterized by insulin resistance and chronic hyperglycemia. Low adiponectin levels are associated with increased T2DM risk. Andaliman, with its antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties, may influence adiponectin levels and improve insulin sensitivity. This study investigates the effects of andaliman nanoemulsion on adiponectin and blood glucose levels in male Wistar rats. The rats were divided into six groups: normal, negative control, positive control, and three groups treated with andaliman nanoemulsion at doses of 25, 50, and 75 mg/kgBW. Blood glucose was measured before treatment and on days 7, 14, and 21, while adiponectin levels were assessed on day 21 using ELISA. Results showed a significant reduction in blood glucose at the 50 mg/kgBW dose (P<0.05), but no significant differences in adiponectin levels (P>0.05). In conclusion, andaliman nanoemulsion shows promise as an antihyperglycemic agent for T2DM management.
