Abstract

The incorporation of technology in various sectors has generated profound transformations, and in the field of media. These changes are manifested both in new opportunities for the presentation of content, as well as in the challenges of adapting journalistic routines to meet the growing needs of the information consumer. This research aims to study the presence of cybermedia in five Southern Cone countries, considering their origin, format, ownership, temporality, language and interaction. The most relevant findings reflect a marked duality in the evolution of the media in the Southern Cone, showing a constant migration from traditional formats to new digital platforms, while at the same time digital native media emerge with innovative proposals. The predominance of private ownership in most of these media has a direct impact on editorial orientation, conditioning news approaches. Furthermore, there is a growing trend towards multiplatform convergence, which is driving a transition from a local approach to a global projection. Language, particularly Spanish, plays a strategic role in expanding the reach of content and in building digital communities. Likewise, the possibility of interaction through different platforms strengthens the link with audiences. In conclusion, although digital transformation represents a complex and challenging process for Southern Cone media, they have managed to preserve their journalistic identity while developing a progressive digital autonomy. The quality of the website emerges as a determining factor in the perception of credibility and recognition by users.
