- Abstract
As an audiovisual format, the videopodcast has emerged as a relevant narrative medium among young audiences, combining visual language, personal testimonies, and emotionally resonant storytelling. This article analyzes how youth empowerment is promoted among young audiences through Peruvian interview videopodcast Desahuevate, hosted by influencer Daniela Delluchi. This podcast was selected for its focus on youth-oriented personal development and the second season was selected for its visual transition from audio to video, coinciding with the rising popularity of videopodcasts in Peru’s digital scenario. In its second season, the show adopts an interview structure, featuring young public figures from Peru who share personal experiences, emotions, and career paths. Adopting an interpretive paradigm with a qualitative approach, a digital ethnography was designed including content analysis of three episodes and in-depth interviews with three young listeners. The analytical framework was organized around three categories: narrative, audience interactions, and audience insights.
Findings indicate that the podcast’s intimate storytelling, youth-oriented visual aesthetics, and the host’s empathetic approach construct a symbolic space of trust, in which shared narratives contribute to personal experience re-signification. Moreover, social media interactions, especially on YouTube and TikTok, reinforce a sense of digital community, encouraging users to share their own stories and engage with the content actively. Key insights revealed include a renewed perspective on one’s own lived experiences, as well as a perceived need to embark on processes of self-discovery in order to face future challenges with greater resilience. The study concludes that Desahuevate functions not only as entertainment but also as a tool for emotional reflection, identity construction, and symbolic support among Peruvian youth within digital media cultures.
