- Abstract
The initiative called ‘BioNova’ was the brainchild of the Department of Life Sciences of Kristu Jayanti (Deemed to be University) and was designed to bring the industry and academia together, by inculcating the biopreneurship spirit among the students. The development of innovative product, formulation of suitable business strategies and establishment of entrepreneurships to transform scientific breakthroughs into business ventures were the areas where the students sought training and were provided training by a special Biopreneurs Cell. As a result, the program helped organize seven one-of-a-kind startups like Agrifoods, Thrive UP, Paramparika, Appachiee, Bioline, Hydragen, Servam, which were concerned with areas ranging from development of biofertilizers, nutrients, diagnostic systems or natural skin care ranges Additionally, the program has contributed to employment opportunities in technology and sustainable biotech innovations, thereby serving as an incubator for biotech startups.
