- Abstract
This study aims to examine the role of cultural literacy in strengthening character education in the context of adult education. The study was conducted using the Systematic Literature Review (SLR) approach to a few relevant national and international scientific articles, published in the last ten years. Through the process of identification, selection, and critical analysis of literature sources, it was found that cultural literacy contributes significantly to shaping character values such as tolerance, empathy, responsibility, and social awareness in adult learners. Cultural literacy functions as a reflective medium that can foster mutual respect in a multicultural society. The results of this study show that the integration of cultural literacy in adult education programs can strengthen social cohesion and build the character of a civilized nation. This study recommends the importance of developing an adult education model based on cultural literacy as a strategy to build an inclusive and characterful society.
