Abstract

This study aims to develop and test the effectiveness of the “Eco-Wonders” creative education-based board game as a medium to enhance the science literacy of tutors at PKBM Homeschooling HSPG Jember. The Research and Development (R&D) method, following the Borg and Gall model, was employed, encompassing stages of data collection, planning, preliminary product development, limited testing, revision, and implementation. The trial involved 8 tutors, with data collected through questionnaires, observations, and science literacy tests (pre-test and post-test). The results indicate that the developed board game is highly feasible, with average scores of 3.9 for the presentation aspect, 3.5 for material delivery, and 3.5 for benefits. Statistical analysis using a paired sample t-test yielded a significance value of 0.000 (α < 0.05), confirming a significant improvement in the tutors’ science literacy after using the board game. An N-Gain score of 0.752, classified as high, further strengthens the finding that “Eco-Wonders” is effective in enhancing tutors’ conceptual understanding and pedagogical skills. It is concluded that the “Eco-Wonders” board game is an innovative medium that is valid, practical, and effective for improving science literacy, thus recommended for integration into the Equivalence Program curriculum.
