Abstract

Industrial companies are incorporating digital technology into their supply chains to enhance operational efficiency and support sustainable production in the current economic climate of intense competition and instability. This study categorizes key supply chain challenges in digitalization. We employ DEMATEL to identify causal links. The results shed light on several significant obstacles to digitization. Critical obstacles include insufficient digital technologies and knowledge for small and medium-sized enterprises (O14), lack of interest from senior management (O13), high initial investment expenses (O10), uncertainty regarding return on investment (O7), resistance to change within the organization (O5), and difficulties in integrating with existing legacy systems (O8). Organizations can improve their digital transformation and minimize associated challenges by strategically addressing these five core concerns. Supply chain managers should promote production sustainability, operational efficiency, and decision-making based on trustworthy information. They should also prioritize the acceleration of digitalization and use the entire plan provided in this study to overcome hurdles proactively.
