Abstract

The flash flood disaster that hit villages in Sigi Regency has become a serious concern. This is because the flood carries sedimentary material and trees which cause damage. It’s called a debris flow. The Sigi Regency Regional Government, in collaboration with the Sulawesi River Region Office 3 (BWSS 3) and JICA, built several constructions used to control debris flows in the villages of Salua. This research goals to determine the characteristics of sedimentation that occurs in the upstream part of Sabo Dam for the Salua rivers and to calculate the amount of sediment transport that settles in the upstream part of Sabo Dam. The research method was carried out by taking sediment samples at several points across the cross section and lengthwise upstream of Sabo Dam. This sediment samples were taken approximately 500 grams. Then the sediment samples were tested for sieve analysis and specific gravity. The sieve analysis test is used to determine the size of the grain that passes the 50% sieve and is included in the calculation of sediment transport. Data on flow velocity, flow depth and river cross section are used to calculate the hydraulics of the river. Apart from that, it measures the velocity, depth and cross-section of the river to analysis sediment transport and the amount of sediment that settles upstream of Sabo. The research output is the storage capacity of the sabo dam in relation to the service life of the sabo dam. In addition, sending papers to international journals and national journals.
