- Abstract
As non-profit permanent institutions open to the public, museums are constantly engaged in diverse and sustainable activities to adapt to audience engagement. With the widespread use of digital technology, many museums are also undertaking a number of digital projects in order to engage with different audiences. This study critically assesses the level of audience engagement with museum digital projects. This paper explores the potential contribution of digitization in museums to audience engagement by examining different approaches to museum digitization, the factors by which digitization affects audience engagement, and the critical implications for the impact of museum digitization.
