- Abstract
This study examines the environmental dimension of Jatiluwih Tourism Village in Tabanan Regency, Bali, with a focus on sustainability analysis and its future development. Jatiluwih is famous for its beautiful rice terraces and has been designated as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, facing challenges in balancing tourism with environmental conservation. Through a qualitative approach, this study explores local community perceptions, environmental characteristics, environmental management practices, challenges faced, and sustainable innovations in tourism village development. The results show that although Jatiluwih has great potential in tourism and management practices, there are several challenges to its environmental sustainability, including soil erosion, pesticide use, and pressure from increasing numbers of tourists. This study proposes a development strategy that focuses on nature conservation, organic farming, and better visitor management. In conclusion, the sustainability and key to the successful development of Jatiluwih Tourism Village depends on the balance between the utilization of tourism potential and the preservation of its natural and cultural heritage, as well as the integration of local wisdom with modern approaches in environmental conservation.
