Abstract

In the digital economy era, Chinese enterprises face strategic imperatives for digital transformation to maintain competitive advantages. Limited academic research exists on digital transformation's influence on enterprise operation efficiency. This paper conducts theoretical analysis of the influence mechanism through literature review and proposes the hypothesis that digital transformation positively affects enterprise operation efficiency. This paper collects panel data from the CSMAR database, obtaining 29,757 firm-year observations of A-listed companies during 2009–2022. We construct a two-way fixed effects model and conduct regression analysis using keyword-based digital transformation measurement. Through robustness tests and endogeneity tests, we conclude that digital transformation significantly enhances enterprise operational efficiency by 0.1148 units per unit increase, with robust results. Heterogeneity analysis reveals more pronounced positive effects in large-scale enterprises and state-owned enterprises.
