Abstract

The Covid-19 pandemic has disrupted various aspects of life and left major challenges to achieve the TPB/SDGs. Especially, in reducing child poverty. This study aims to study child poverty in DKI Jakarta Province by estimating poverty in monetary and multidimensional terms in pre and post the Covid-19 pandemic. The results of the Susenas BPS for the March 2019 and March 2020 were used to identify this. This study using Foster-Greer-Thorbecke/FGT Formula and Multiple Overlapping Deprivation Analysis/MODA methodology. The results of the analysis show that monetary child poverty is still quite far from the TPB/SDGs target in 2030. Meanwhile, multidimensional child poverty has succeeded in exceeding the target. Monetary and multidimensional dimensions have an influence on child poverty, with different intensities. The Covid-19 pandemic quickly pulled children down below the monetary poverty line. Particularly, children with household conditions of ≥5 people, low-educated Head of Household (HoH), female HoH, and unemployed HoH. On the other hand, the increase in multidimensional child poverty has not occurred. Three of the six dimensions had the highest deprivation values in the 0-17 age group, namely the dimensions of education, food and nutrition, and housing. These conditions are relatively similar to before the Covid-19 pandemic occurred.
