- Abstract
In recent decades, artificial intelligence has gained significant traction across various fields, simplifying complex tasks and making them more accessible. This technology offers numerous advantages to sectors such as entertainment, filmmaking, media, marketing, and healthcare. However, it also presents certain risks, particularly when deepfake technology is misused, which can undermine its positive applications and lead to substantial legal and social challenges. The rise of misinformation and deepfake porn videos is one of the most relevant examples. The study compares the regulations in the US, EU, and India that aim to reduce the production and dissemination of dangerous deepfakes. This paper aims to investigate the legal ramifications of deepfake videos, audio, and images. The author argues that while existing laws can address some aspects of the deepfake issue, there is increasing recognition of the urgent need for specific legislation and regulations focused on deepfakes and synthetic media. Furthermore, considerable efforts must be dedicated to raising awareness, developing countermeasures, and establishing a legal framework to mitigate the associated risks of this technology.
