- Abstract
This study investigates the socio-economic factors influencing air pollution levels in the Greater Bay Area, focusing on the impact of industrial growth rate, urbanization rate, GDP per capita, and technology investment. In this research we are focused on how the Greater Bay Area (GBA) can achieve high economic growth while minimizing environmental degradation and ensuring long-term ecological health and ecological preservation. Using descriptive analysis we examine how these variables correlate with air quality, with particular attention to each factor’s statistical significance. Secondary data was collected from several databases and official records to ensure accuracy and comprehensiveness. Data covered socio-economic variables, environmental indicators, and urbanization metrics across different cities within the Greater Bay Area. The results reveal a strong positive association between air pollution and both industrial growth rate and urbanization rate, underscoring the environmental costs of rapid industrialization and urban expansion in the region. Conversely, GDP per capita and technology investment do not exhibit a statistically significant relationship with pollution levels, suggesting that economic prosperity and technological spending alone do not directly impact air quality. This approach can help the Greater Bay Area foster a sustainable development model that aligns with public health and long-term ecological stability.
