Abstract

Since the enactment of Government Regulation Number 4 of 2022 concerning the National Education Standards (SNP), the importance of strengthening Pancasila values as a compulsory component in the curriculum at every level of education has been emphasized. This requires Civic Education students as prospective educators to possess strong pedagogical skills, one of which is mastery of micro-teaching. However, the microteaching competencies of Civic Education students at Universitas Negeri Medan have not yet been comprehensively identified, resulting in the lack of a clear formulation of skill development needs. This study aims to analyze the learning needs and map the level of microteaching skills of Civic Education students at Universitas Negeri Medan as future Pancasila and Civic Education teachers. This research employed a quantitative method with data collected through questionnaires. The findings indicate that most students gave positive assessments of microteaching implementation as a means to train basic teaching skills. The needs analysis revealed that microteaching helps students open lessons effectively, explain material clearly, and use appropriate teaching media. More than 85% of respondents stated that microteaching is effective for practicing various teaching styles, asking questions, and providing feedback to students. The skills mapping also shows that microteaching supports the development of classroom management skills, effective communication, and lesson closure with clear summaries. These findings highlight the importance of strengthening microteaching to better prepare Civic Education students as prospective teachers capable of implementing Pancasila values in teaching practice.
