- Abstract
To meet the growing digital demand of users, AI (Artificial Intelligence) technologies are implemented in various library operations to make library services more effective and user-friendly. The present study focused on examining the role of AI in libraries and the technical advancements and modernization of traditional libraries that Artificial Intelligence has brought about. The purpose of this study is to synthesize diverse research findings and provide an understanding of AI’s role, identify persistent challenges, address knowledge gaps, and contribute to a practical framework for AI-enhanced libraries. Findings show a growing trend of AI adoption in Libraries, and academic libraries, particularly those with advanced technology, demonstrate a higher adoption rate. AI applications in the library expanded with metadata management, automated cataloguing, and a virtual assistant while integrating generative AI and the Smart Library framework with IOT (Internet of Things).
