Abstract

The advent of technological innovations has transformed ever sector, with libraries being the heart of every institution and situated within Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) distinctly encompassed in this transformative transition. By incorporating interactive, user-centered, and participatory tools such as social media, blogs, wikis, instant messaging, etc., Library 2.0—a concept derived from Web 2.0 technologies—has completely changed how libraries interact with their users and successfully met the needs of faculty, researchers, and students in higher education institutions. This study investigates the current state of Library 2.0 utilization on the library websites of central government higher institutes in Northeast India. The study employs content analysis and observation methods to evaluate online library platforms. A checklist was designed to systematically collect data from the identified library websites. The findings reveal varying degrees of Library 2.0 utilization, with social networking links, online catalogues, and interactive tools. However, the study also highlights the uneven implementation and limited use of participatory technologies in the region’s higher educational libraries. Recommendations are offered to strengthen digital engagement and foster user-centered library thereby enhancing library services through greater utilization of Library 2.0 tools.
