Abstract

The main goal of Viksit Bharat 2047 is to digitally develop every sphere of the nation, with a particular focus on the country’s educational sectors. One of the vital projects undertaken by Viksit Bharat 2047 is the Digital India project. Its main aim and ambition is to economically strengthen the grassroots, particularly the new generation, and to grow the economy by providing mobile and internet connectivity, spreading digital connectivity, and extending access to every group of people. The main vision of Viksit Bharat is to provide digital payments, e-healthcare, digital agriculture, online learning, e-commerce, and the growth of the electronic and system design industries to every sphere of the nation, including rural areas where the impact of digitization is less pronounced. In spite of these developments, still a huge gap in internet access, skills, and literacy between the urban and rural communities. Public libraries always play a vital role as a trusted community hub, and may help to bridge the gap by including digital literacy initiatives in their offerings. The main aim of conducting this study is to give a comparative perspective of both the urban and rural libraries as major facilitators of digital literacy, in addition to the vision of Viksit Bharat 2047.
