Abstract

The rapid development of cultural tourism and digital construction technologies has paved the way for innovative approaches to planning and managing scenic area projects. This study proposes an integrated model that combines Building Information Modeling (BIM) and Virtual Reality (VR) simulation to support the design, construction, and operational phases of cultural tourism projects. Using Liuhang Town in Fengshun County, Guangdong Province, China, as a case study, the model employs precise BIM-based geometric representations and VR-enhanced immersive simulations to optimize construction schedules, reduce material wastage, and enhance visitor experience. A mathematical framework is introduced to quantify construction complexity and simulate VR immersion parameters. The case study demonstrates significant improvements in construction time, cost efficiency, and visitor satisfaction. The proposed integrated BIM-VR model is a novel contribution to both digital construction and cultural tourism development, with implications for future research in urban development and smart management.
