This volume presents the peer-reviewed papers of the 8th International Conference on Vocational Education, Applied Science and Technology (ICVEAST 2026), held on July 16-17, 2026, in Semarang City, Central Java, Indonesia. The conference was hosted by Vocational School of Universitas Indonesia, with the Vocational School of Universitas Diponegoro serving as co-host. Through its hybrid format, the event brought together participants from academia, industry, government, and professional communities in Indonesia and abroad.

ICVEAST 2026 adopted the theme “Technology-Enabled Sustainability: Advancing Green Skills in Applied Sciences.” The theme recognizes that technological progress must be aligned with environmental responsibility and the development of sustainability-focused competencies. In response to climate change, resource limitations, and evolving industry needs, vocational education and applied sciences have an important role in preparing skilled professionals and producing solutions that support sustainable development.

The conference provided a platform for researchers, educators, practitioners, policymakers, industry representatives, and students to share ideas, present research outcomes, and establish interdisciplinary partnerships. Its discussions explored the use of technology to encourage green innovation, improve workforce preparedness, and create practical responses to environmental, economic, and societal challenges.

The program covered three major areas: Green Health Systems and Sustainable Care Technologies; Sustainable Business and Green Digital Innovation; and Smart Governance, Green Policy, and Social Transformation. Together, these areas reflected the broad contribution of applied sciences and vocational education to sustainable healthcare, responsible economic growth, digital transformation, effective governance, and social resilience.

The papers published in these proceedings were selected through a peer-review process to ensure their academic quality, originality, and relevance to the conference theme. They offer a range of conceptual, empirical, and practical perspectives, demonstrating how interdisciplinary research can contribute to sustainability-oriented innovation.

We hope that this collection will be a valuable resource for researchers, educators, practitioners, industry partners, and policymakers, and that it will encourage continued collaboration in advancing green skills and technology-enabled sustainability.
